March....
And Spring is on the way. After the rains of winter, the sunshine this week brings hope. I love spring, with the bulbs, flowers, bird song and the promise of the summer to come.
March is a time for waiting and waiting in hope, but waiting is often hard. Marie Curie is attributed as saying "All things come to those who wait", and whilst we know what she means, it is rather obvious as whether we worry or not, things will still happen . As the writer in Genesis wrote "“As long as the earth endures, seedtime and harvest, cold and heat, summer and winter, day and night will never cease.” Life continues irrespective of how we wait.
So what can we learn for March?
For Year 13 students, it is important to learn to wait well. "Patience is bitter, but its fruit is sweet" said Aristotle. Waiting for the outstanding university offers, that you hope will come. Preparing well for the summer exams. That is key for this month. Pace yourself. Start revising now, a little at a time, is the best way, just as in the hare and tortoise proverb. Allow time each day to enjoy the sunshine and rest, and take a day off each week to restore your balance, and enjoy studying.
Check the February blog for Student Finance details : Applications open on 23rd March.
Check the February blog for advice on university offers : there is no rush to respond.
For Year 12 students : Enjoy the year. Hopefully you have now settled into your courses. Enjoy your studies and enjoy independently exploring ideas and concepts that really catch your interest in class and pursue them further. Take part in extra and supra curricular activities wherever you can, and make the most of your lower sixth adventure! Other ideas are also to be found in the February blog.
Universities are beginning to offer taster days for subjects as well. Keep an eye out for those local to you, or those that you are interested in and plan to attend one or two.
