Change is Good
A colleague has kindly offered to add a testimonial to my website, and in it she writes "Liz is incredibly supportive, even when students change their minds".
As today is GCSE results day, I think of all the students who are considering changing their A level choices on the back of their results. I want to encourage them, that change is good. A lot has happened since choices were made back at the start of Year 11. However, just one word of advice. Try to think ahead and ensure that the choices enable students to access potential dreams, look at the UCAS university website and think of any potential career and ensure you are not closing doors. One example is if you choose Psychology A level, just think about whether or not you need a science subject as well, as many universities require this if you wish to study Psychology further. Each year at school there is one student, who decides on a career and then finds they do not have the required A levels; we always work out a plan to rectify this, but try to make sure that is not you.
Clearing has been another example of where change is good this year. There have been so many positive choices offered on by universities, which students can still access. Perhaps this is where the future of university admissions lie - the subject of another blog maybe. For now, remember that change is good; changing to a course you love even at this late stage is a positive choice.
